Brooklyn motorik analog synth lovers Operator Band published the Coordination PE at the end of 2017, a new exploration of sound tinged with krautrock and influenced by Stereolab. You can stream the whole thing below. The EP’s dark and chilling closing track, “Moto Komplete”, now has an equally unnerving (and very cool) video, directed by James Siewert. The video is previewed in this article and the group Jared Hillier told us a bit about it:
What you get is an endlessly spinning retro Lynchian sci-fi nightmare carousel, revealing with clockwork precision the results of a phone repair exorcism gone wrong. It took my breath away when I first saw it in motion. It was shot in my family’s used clothing import/export warehouse. And that all of the video was shot on a motorized circular rig the director built from scratch, where the camera hung perpendicular to the ground and shot through a mirror.
There are also nine inch nails and Matrix vibrations are happening here in this kind of bullet-time rotoscope. Watch the video below.
