Of all these videos, “Scream”, a video of Michael Jackson with Janet, is without a doubt the most fascinating. For one thing, the video cost $ 7 million, all of which comes straight from Michael’s pocket – it’s still the most expensive music video of all time to this day. An unlimited budget requires flawless makeup, that’s where legendary makeup artist Kevyn Aucoin comes in. He did Janet’s video makeup drawing inspiration from Japanese culture, especially anime.
The video, wardrobe and beauty looks of “Rhythm Nation”, on the other hand, were inspired by Blade runner and the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. “We shot the elevator scene at the same location [where Blade Runner was shot,]Janet reveals in the video. âIt was a lot of long hours; there were times when we would shoot 9pm in one night.
