QUINCY – State Street Theater will have two live shows this weekend.

The theater has partnered with Square Music Company to provide a free live music experience for all ages on Friday, July 1. Doors open at 6 p.m. and music begins at 7 p.m. with performances by Pete Magliocco and Ted Holt, along with other guests. performances. The show is part of the theater’s Summer Fridays series.

The theater will also provide a hip hop showcase on Saturday, July 2, with out-of-town artists such as Prince-Ish from Cleveland and Bonus from New York joining a who’s-who of local rap talent like GP GotIt, Esby573 , Young Rook and Blockboy Filp. The cost to attend the showcase is $10 and is open to all ages.

In a press release, State Street Theater manager Brian Stitt said, “We are thrilled to be able to bring exciting national acts to our stage while showcasing Quincy’s vast local talent. Quincy is already a hive of musical activity, and we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to add to that.

“We can’t wait to show off some of the talent that regularly strolls through our store,” said Magliocco, owner of Square Music Company. “Working with the State Street Theater allows us to grow and develop our neighborhood to better the music community. We are thrilled to be able to perform back-to-back shows with this caliber of talent.

Opened in 1938, the State Street Theater was originally built as a state-of-the-art movie theatre, but has been converted into a stylish and versatile event venue for concerts, movies, weddings or other private events . The theater’s Summer Fridays series offers a variety of live musical experiences.
