Momentary Announces More Live Music Shows

BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) – The Momentary has announced that more live music and immersive experiences are coming to Bentonville this summer and fall.

A July 15 press release stated that guests of all ages will enjoy a variety of new and unique sounds to suit all tastes, all year round. Shows range from free concerts on the green to multi-day events.

This weekend: the dirty south Weekend

  • WHAT: Hip-hop duo Run the Jewels (featuring rapper and producer El-P and rapper Killer Mike) and Grammy-winning artist Big Boi take the stage at Momentary as part of a weekend celebration of news from the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art exhibit The Dirty South: Contemporary Art, Material Culture, and the Sonic Pulse.

Free music: Free concerts on the green

  • WHAT: Free Friday concerts on the green
  • WHEN: Select Fridays at 8 p.m. starting July 22

  • WHO: The Momentary hosts all of its free concerts on the green several Fridays this summer with local stars alongside exciting surprise guests including singer-songwriters and full bands. The series kicks off with New York’s Manhattan Chamber Players String Sextet on July 22.

Solo violin performance

  • WHAT: Join us for an evening of virtuoso performance by Grammy-winning violinist Jennifer Koh. She brings her unique blend of technical precision, musical agility and creative vision to the RØDE House stage for a night of contemporary classical music.

  • WHAT: Immerse yourself in the technicolor sound of two-time Grammy-nominated indie pop artists Japanese Breakfast. From the upbeat, synth-fueled nostalgia of 2021’s “Jubilee” to the heartfelt melancholy of “Psychopomp” and “Soft Sounds from Another Planet,” Japanese Breakfast’s Michelle Zauner (author of bestselling memoir “Crying in H Mart”) , Peter Bradley , Craig Hendrix and Deven Craige bring the sonic texture and energy of dreampop to the Coca-Cola stage for an evening to remember.

Launch of the FORMAT festival

  • WHAT: Grammy Award-winning rock band The War on Drugs head to Momentary for the official launch of Bentonville’s first three-day FORMAT festival. Dubbed “the best American ‘rock’ band of this decade” by The New Yorker, The War on Drugs are sure to deliver an electrifying evening of texture-rich, guitar-driven sounds live on the Momentary Green.

Revolutionary Jazz Trio

  • WHAT: Join us for an evening of jazz performed by the famous Tigran Hamasyan Trio. Led by pianist Tigran Hamasyan, the Trio bring an “energetic, masterful marriage of jazz improvisation and legendary music from Tigran’s native Armenia to the RØDE House stage as part of their North American tour.” From innovative reimaginings of jazz standards to the electric joy of live jam sessions, this is not an experience any music lover should miss.

Coming: An acoustic evening with Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt

  • WHAT: Legendary artists Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt will perform at Momentary. Singer, songwriter and actor, Lyle Lovett has broadened the definition of American music during a career that spans 14 albums. Master lyricist and satirical storyteller, John Hiatt delivers songs filled with stories of redemption, relationships and abandonment on his own terms.

  • AFTER: The gathering welcomes electronic music experts and sound newbies alike, bringing together a diverse array of international artists.

Momentous promises to be a representative experience of “what’s happening in the global electronic music scene in all its forms today, enabled exclusively in Bentonville.” Between DJ sets, crazy electro-pop show, sound installations and contemplative meditations, two multi-sensory installations will be integrated into the sound experience.
