For the Sabah Harvest Festival in Kaamatan, Sabahan duo Atmosfera released a video titled “Kaamatan” featuring the characters exploring a local village and engaging in the activities and celebrations that take place there. All this is done while singing in the local Dusun language. Backed by Floor 88 vocalist Sabahan Ayie, Maxis said the song was both celebratory and catchy, with a hook that will invite repeat listens at many get-togethers.
On the other hand, for the Gawai harvest festival in Sarawak, the Sarawakian Alena Murang, who is of Dayak-Kelabit descent, released a song titled “Sun Hat Song”. The song is sung in multiple languages including English, Iban, Bidayuh, Kelabit, and Kenyan, in which the acoustic resonates with classic rock vibes. The clip itself also highlights the lives of the locals, such as preparing traditional dishes and attending celebrations and festivals.
